Munchkin & Peaches

*April 2010

*March 2011

First we have to start with the story of  the cutest little goat you’ll ever meet, the Munchkin. Believe it or not, but she is actually a purebred Boar goat, however she has dwarfism and just never grew. She joined our family on a beautiful Fall day in 2010 when we were actually at a farm picking up two piglets, certainly not thinking about goats at the time at all.

Turns out the pig farmers also raised Boar goats and the owner showed us her crop of boar kids. Big, hefty six months old kids when I spotted this tiny little thing somewhere in between all those big Boar kids, struggling to get  a nibble of the hay. She was maybe a third of the size of all the other ones if not smaller.

I asked the lady what is this little thing there in between ? She told me that this little thing is the same age as the others but just never grew and seemed to have other health issues as well. She also told me that she just does not have the time to give her the extra attention she probably needed but nevertheless felt sorry for her and would give her to anybody who would take care of  her.  She must have seen me coming a mile away because she picked up that little thing and placed her right into my arms. To make matters even worse, that little thing snuggled right into my arm and there was just no way I could have put her back with those other big Boars.

Needless to say, we left with not only two piglets that day but also a little dwarf goat that we weren’t even sure was healthy enough to survive.

After she got the medical attention she needed, lots of  TLC, got plenty of  good food and hay she did not have to fight for, she just blossomed into this absolutely adorable little “Tank” of about 60 ++ lbs.

Not a day goes by where she does not make us smile or flat out laugh.

The Munchkin on the day she  joined our family at 6 months old

After a vet visit and a much needed bath her skin issues started to slowly clear up.
